While the needs of the communities we equip and train are diverse, their goals are similar – to ensure access to quality, life-saving medical care. In addition to rural communities Medic Outpost Africa works in poor neighborhoods on the outskirts of Nairobi to bring critical treatment and training to primary school children and school staff. The Afya Kids project began in the slums of Nairobi. Medic Outpost Africa is focusing on attacking intestinal parasites and vitamin deficiencies that plague small children in resource poor communities. To date we have treated over 10,000 primary school children ages 6 months to 12 years old. Our programs include education in hyigene, preventative health, and Afya Kids first aid training. To date we have trained over 6,000 children health programs including our first aid program. Girls 5 to 9 years old are most often the primary caregivers to their younger brothers and sisters in poor communities. A majority could be saved with the proper training and equipment. Medic Outpost is on a 2 year mission to decrease infant mortality in the developing world. Our midwife training program was developed to be taught to anyone regardless of language, education, socio-economic status. We are proud to partner with Laerdal Medical Corporation and various Ministries of Health in Mexico and around the world to bring this program to the most remote areas of the world. It is a challenge to dispel ancient myths about birthing and provide modern resuscitation equipment to save lives but we are doing it. After receiving his medical education from the National University of Mexico, Dr. Garcia served as senior physician and paramedic for Mexico City’s prestigious ERUM system from 1989 to 2013. Dr. Garcia was one of the first physicians to land in earthquake-ravaged Haiti in 2019, leading the Mexican USAR team in their rescue efforts. As the chief educator for the Mexican Ministry of Health, Dr. Garcia has collaborated extensively on the development of first responder programs for local communities and police.
